Life science research across the globe is witnessing a deluge of data. Efficient storage, conservation and semantic access to the data is thus, a major challenge. The sheer magnitude of the data and complexity of associated formats further complicates the issue. Consequently, a coordinated effort to develop strategies for proper conservation and access of the datasets is extremely critical. The current symposium is targeted to discuss such issues and increase awareness regarding the importance of a coordinated national strategy for data storage and access with similar global efforts.
